Google Docs do not have an in-built function to make tables side by side and in this easy guide you will learn how to make tables side by side in Google Docs.

Quick Guide

  1. Select “Insert” > “Table” > Select 2×1.
  2. Keep your cursor in the first cell, select “Insert” > “Tables” > Select as many columns and rows you want.
  3. Keep your cursor in the second cell, select “Insert” > “Tables” > Select as many columns and rows you want.
  4. Right-click on the outer table, select Table properties > Colour > Select 0 pt under Table border

Step 1: From the top menu, go to “Insert” > “Table” > “Table templates” > “2×1”.

Note: If you want to have 3 or more tables side by side, you have to select the table templates accordingly.

Step 2: Place your cursor inside the first cell of the table created in step 1.

Step 3: Go to top menu, select “Insert” > “Table” > “Table templates”. Select your required columns and rows.

Step 4: Place your cursor on the second cell of your outer table created in step 1.

Step 5: Insert another table by going to the top menu, and select “Insert” > “Table” > “Table templates”.

Step 6: By having your cursor on the outer table, right-click.

Step 7: Select , after right-click on the outer table.

Step 8: On the right side panel, select “Colour”, and select “0pt”.

Note: After creating tables side by side, you can enter texts and format them to your required font, size, color and alignment from the tool bar below the menu.
